Ehtesham Alam Ansari

Style runs in the family for Ehtesham, a recognized menswear fashion blogger from Mumbai, India. His grandfather's fashion influence has driven him to have huge inspirations in the fashion industry. A real sneaker lover with a taste for classic brands and more. See what trends that he is rocking, and some that he stays away from, all in our exclusive convo with the man himself, Ehtesham.

Where are you from?

I am from Mumbai, India.

What are your interests/hobbies?

I like playing football, riding bikes, traveling, and shopping.

How long have you been into fashion?

I have always been very inclined towards fashion ever-since my college days. So I would say about 10 years now.

What got you into fashion?

My grandfather was very fashionable, I’d always look up to him. He always made sure I looked presentable. That’s where it all started.

How would you describe your sense of style?

My sense of style is more of comfort and fit and not just following what's trending but more of what I am comfortable wearing. Something that’s unique and makes me feel confident and stylish at the same time. I never compromise on what I am wearing. Also, the fit is very important to me.

How has living in _____ shaped your style and your fashion sense?

Over a period of time and years, I have observed and improved my sense of fashion and style. I wouldn't say that I was always so fashionable and stylish but I did evolve with time.

Where do you find your inspiration for your style? And what influences you the most?

Like I said before I was inspired firstly by my grandfather and his taste for crisp safari suits and penny loafers. Also since my father was in the Navy, I always had a chance to witness some of the finest dressed men which includes my father as well. Not only were they well dressed but I also admired the amount of respect they got. Since then I always wanted to look good and presentable in whatever I am wearing.

Who is your fashion spirit animal/who inspires you? And why? (artist, athlete, actor etc.)

Tom Ford, David Beckham, Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling. They have been an inspiration for me for a very long time. They can never go wrong with whatever they wear. They are the epitome of fashion to me.

What are your favorite fashion pieces? (hats, belts, hoodies etc.)

I am more of a sweatshirts, bomber jackets, hoodies, sunglasses and most importantly sneakers kinda person.

What are your favorite brands?

Zara, Adidas Originals, Nike, Reebok Classics, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Levi’s, Aeropostale, GAP etc. I am not always too brand conscious since at times I prefer local brands as well. It all depends on what I like and if it makes me feel good.

What current fashion trends are you loving right now? Which ones are you hating?

The idea that we are bringing back the vintage trends like cuban collars,  printed shirts, and turtlenecks.

The trend of ripped torn shirts and tees I totally don't understand.

The most important piece of an outfit is ____? Why?

Shoes, it defines a person’s character.

Do you have a dream fashion piece? (a specific coat, belt, pants etc.)

Don't have a dream fashion piece as such but bomber jackets & trench-coats in general, I feel I need to add them to my wardrobe.

What are your goals and aspirations with fashion? Where do you see yourself ending up?

I want to start my own menswear label, which caters to all the fashion needs of any men in the most stylish way and at the most reasonable price. That's where I plan to see myself and measure my success.
